About SRA
Every refractory company will tell you they design, manufacture and supply. The difference is what happens after the lining is in your vessel. The team that designs your lining is the same team that answers for it, from the first model to the last day it’s in service. That’s how the business was built.
Plants at Unanderra, Kwinana and Huntly sit close to the operations they serve, close enough to support installation in person and respond fast when conditions change. Between them, they cover what a lining actually needs: custom monolithic mixes, precast shapes in both proven and vessel-specific designs, and the material R&D behind both. What isn’t made locally, the full brick range and flow-control refractories, comes through Shinagawa’s global network, so the complete lining still comes from one accountable source.
Scale buys continuity: decades of linings run in the country’s hardest operating environments, and a technical bench deep enough that judgement doesn’t leave when one engineer does. That’s what carries weight when a decision carries operational consequence.At Cockburn Cement, an SRA lining lasted four years where the steel components it replaced were failing every four months. The total-cost case alone justified the premium.
SRA’s R&D team, backed by Shinagawa Japan’s laboratory network, formulates custom refractory mixes for specific industrial and lining applications, whatever the process. That includes operations running something that doesn’t fit an existing category yet.
Long before Shinagawa’s global network reached this region, two of Australia's most respected refractory manufacturers were already doing this work. Their combination is where SRA's Australian history begins.
