Unanderra, on the New South Wales coast south of Sydney, is one of SRA’s manufacturing plants across Australia and New Zealand. It houses SRA’s dedicated R&D team, backed by the laboratory facilities of Shinagawa Japan, and is where SRA manufactures precast refractory shapes for vessels supplied into steel, cement and alumina operations.
Unanderra manufactures both wet and dry monolithics, along with basic monolithics for high-temperature applications. It’s also where SRA’s precast shapes are cast, and where the plant’s blast furnace taphole clay is produced, a specialised product that stops the flow of molten metal and has to expand and hold its position on demand.
