Tobias Fay has joined our engineering group, working across vessel assessment and specification with customers in steel and cement. His background is in process engineering on the operator side, which is exactly the perspective that makes these conversations shorter. Knowing what a shutdown actually looks like from inside a plant changes how you write a specification for one. What we look for is the point where the decision was actually made. Usually it was not on the shutdown floor. It was in a specification written months earlier, against an assumption about service conditions that has since moved. Tobias is based at Unanderra and will be out on sites across the east coast through the year. If he turns up on your next inspection, that is why.
